Parikrama, in Hindi, means to revolve, encircle, go around something…..the circle of life. For us it means Rock n Roll. The band has been around for the past 15 years and would turn 16 on June 17th 2007.
Parikrama, in Hindi, means to revolve, encircle, go around something…..the circle of life. For us it means Rock n Roll. The band has been around for the past 15 years and would turn 16 on June 17th 2007.
Parikrama is the oldest surviving rock act from India, singing Rock in English. The band still has 5 of the 6 original members that started back in 1991. Parikrama bought their domain (www.parikrama.com) in 1997, for the main reason to spread their music,and posted the 1st song at the site the same year. To date, millions of people have downloaded music from the site, Free of cost. The band"s biggest hits include "But it Rained", "Till I'm No One Again", "Vapourize", "Open Skies", "Whisky Blues" amongst others.
The band experiments with new sounds all the time and includes influences from a classic rock background with references to bands like Lynyrd Skynyrd, Allman Brothers, AC/DC through current artists. The setup includes:- Vocals, 2 Guitarists, Bass guitar, Keyboards, Drums, Indian Violin and Indian Tabla.
This will be the first UK tour for the band and certainly the first time that a rock/metal band have come to the UK to open a major festival on the main stage.
