The Hollies | Saturday 13 March 2010 | Civic Hall
According to a certain Guinness Book of British Hit Singles, throughout the 1960's and 1970's, The Hollies had more hit records than The Beatles. Pioneering Pop or hard-edged Rock - through to their Power Anthems - The Hollies do it all - and they do it with style and panache.

You would swear The Civic was a Home from Home for The Hollies with the welcome they received on Saturday 13th March.
The whole show sounds wonderfully vintage yet brand spanking new, they have that affect on you.
Along with the younger folk there was a massive following from the 60s era who revelled in the large slice of Hollies Magic with their slick well crafted songs.
There are just two members of the original band in the present line up, these pillars of The Dynasty are Tony Hicks and Bobby Elliot. Though there have been changes to the group in the forty plus years that have passed there has never been a shortage of the finest musicians.
I noticed something very rare during the performance usually, and very naturally, people tend to chat between songs. There was a reverent silence before each number, waiting for the opening bars. I found this very touching.
The Hollies have always been about blending and bonding and with their leading vocalist, Peter Howarth, they have an absolute gem.
Among the classics were I Cant Let Go, Jennifer Eccles, Gasoline Alley Bred, Carrie Anne, Stop, Stop, Stop, Bus Stop, The Air That I Breathe, Carousel, He Aint Heavy, Hes My Brother etc.
A comment from a lady as we left sealed it for me when she said They could have done it on ice and still been terrific.
