JOHN BISHOP: ELVIS HAS LEFT THE BUILDING
EDINBURGH COMEDY AWARD NOMINEE 2009
"Ladies and Gentlemen, stand-up fanatics and 'Suspicious Minds' alike, please put your hands together, stamp your feet, scream if you must as we welcome to the stage, all the way from Liverpool for your delight and amusement, the one, the only, the incredible, the multi award-winning comedian, John Bishop."
John Bishop is now the same age as Elvis was when he died. This fact has led him to reconsider the way he lives his life, but he's not a singer or an Elvis impersonator.
Since giving up the nine-to-five grind to 'Follow That Dream', John Bishop has been spending lots of time at home hoping that things will happen and that they'll turn out to be funny. Perhaps a rather risky career move but luckily for John the antics of his teenage sons (he has three) have proven to be a relentless source of comic inspiration. What results is a hilarious analysis of their blasé attitude to his chosen career and the changes that occur once your eldest son is big enough to 'have' his Dad as well as reflections on the peculiarities of 21st Century family life.
The combination of John Bishop's ability to keep the laughs coming with his unique brand of observational humour his undeniable charm and gift of creating a relaxed atmosphere are unrivalled and the feel good factor of spending an evening in his company is absolutely priceless. So catch him while you can. Thangyouverymuch.
Recent TV appearances include Michael McIntyre's Comedy Roadshow, 8 out of 10 Cats, For One Night Only and Skins. John Bishop will also be appearing in the forthcoming series of Live at the Apollo. In 2010 he will be reprising his role in the next series of Skins and will be appearing in Ken Loach's new feature film Route Irish.
